Preparations are underway for the Country Fair’s Lantern Parade 2016, which happens in Wollombi at dusk on Saturday 27th August 2016.
Sydney’s Taronga Zoo turns 100 this year, and to join in the celebrations, the theme this year for our lantern parade will be “Animals, Taronga Zoo style”.
WORKSHOPS will be held every Sunday in August on the green next to Wollombi Real Estate from 10am to 1pm, everything you need will be provided with a small charge to cover costs. Check out this year’s theme, or if you’d prefer, make your own lantern and bring it with you on the night. Download instructions for how to construct a Pyramid Lantern.
While you’re at the Wollombi Country Fair on Saturday 27th August, drop around to the Clubhouse precinct in Negro Street from 3pm until the start of the Lantern Parade – take advantage of our delicious barbecue and maybe a sit down on the verandah while you enjoy your snack. We’ll also be offering a range of games for children of all ages – gumboot throwing, table tennis, and ball games. Something for all while you wait for those magic ethereal lanterns to get under-way.
